At the McCall Outdoor Science School, Mark is currently developing ways to teach and study chemistry outdoors. This has a broad scope involving botany, ecology as well as chemistry and is aimed at students from sixth grade to graduate programs. Research is currently focused on natural products chemistry, identifying and analyzing compounds produced by native plants in the region.
Brief biography:
Mark Wolfenden uses knowledge of organic synthesis to address problems related to microbiology, surface science, chemical catalysis, fuel stability, pathogen detection and many more fields. He is passionate about applied science and making a difference in how science affects us today and using these lessons to forge a better future for our children. These broad research interests range from pathogen detection to energy efficiency and more.
